Math Jazz — Mathias Bynens’s shizzle, y’all

Note: This site might seem inactive… That’s because it is. Don’t worry though, I’m still coding webpages and stuff! If you’re interested, I suggest you get a translator and head over to Qiwi; or you could just check the latest site we’ve been working on: Apotheek Goethals – Debrabandere. Enjoy!

Playlist meme

It’s been quite a while since I last did a meme. As if by fate, I noticed the so-called playlist meme take over a lot of weblogs. Why not?, I thought. I thought. Anyway, here goes.

I’m not too sure about who exactly to blame, so I’ll just blame it on myself.

As it goes with memes, here are the instructions:

  1. Open up the music player on your computer.
  2. Set it to play your entire music collection.
  3. Hit the “shuffle” button.
  4. Tell us the title of the next ten songs that show up (with their musicians), no matter how embarrassing. That’s right, no skipping that Carpenters tune that will totally destroy your hip credibility. It’s time for total musical honesty. Write it up in your blog or journal and link back to at least a couple of the other sites where you saw this.
  5. If you get the same artist twice, you may skip the second (or third, etc.) occurances. You don’t have to, but since randomness could mean you end up with a list of ten song with five artists, you can if you’d like.

So, I plugged in my iPod, and pressed the big play button. (I always shuffle.)

  1. Meredith Brooks — Bitch (Blurring the Edges)
  2. The Clash — Train in Vain (London Calling)
  3. Lamb — Scratch Bass (What Sound)
  4. Het Eiland — Zever (Het Eiland OST)
  5. Therapy? — Brainsaw (Troublegum)
  6. Liliane St.-Pierre — Soldiers of Love (?!)
  7. Bad Religion — Broken (The Process of Belief)
  8. Pixies — Nimrod’s Son (Live at the Fine Line Music Café)
  9. Hoobastank — Never There (The Reason)
  10. Rafaella Carra — A Far l’Amore Comincia Tu (Discobar Galaxie: In Your Space)
  11. Rage Against the Machine — How I Could Just Kill a Man (Renegades)

Alright, this is embarrassing. Don’t do it. :P Feel free to leave a link to or post your list, laughing at other people is much more fun than being ashamed.

    Shit…

    1. RZA – Crane/White Lightning (Kill Bill, Volume 1 OST)
    2. Monty Python – Argument Clinic (Monty Python Live)
    3. Charlie Feathers – Can’t hardly stand it (Kill Bill, Volume 2 OST)

    5. Randy Newman – Enter the heroes (Monsters, Inc. OST)
    6. Queen – Another one bites the dust

    8. Poelmo – Droom (Poelmo, Slaaf van het Zuiden)
    9. Queen – Brighton Rock (Live Killers)
    10. Curtis Mayfield – Superfly

(I’ve added the albums where I could remember them; I quickly turned to the rest of the music on my iPod, about 650 songs/files (AoV radio etc.).)

:( That turned out to be not quite as embarrassing as mine, right? I mean, Liliane St.-fookin’-Pierre!

Should I add the albums to my list as well?

:D Not quite embarrassing, but still… Yeah, add the albums. I did it because of my silly soundtrack love.

When I open iTunes, go to the library, and hit shuffle nothing happens to the list.

Yeah, you’ll have to press Play to see the result of enabling shuffle. The songs will be played in random order, but the list itself won’t randomize.

I made a totally separate playlist on iTunes that contained all my song collection and just pressed shuffle and voila… a list…

Look at me being late to the party!

    • Jimi Tenor – Wear My Bikini on (Various Artists) – We are Reasonable People
    • Autechre – Rotar on Autechre - Tri Repetae++ - CD 1
    • Frog Pocket – Hey Hope on Frog Pocket – Moon Mountain of the Fords
    • Chaos A.D. – Psultan (Squarepusher rmx) on (Various Artists) – Braindance Coincidence
    • Solvent – Steve Strange on (Various Artists) Snow Robots – Volume 01
    • Unit Moebius – Teknorganik on Unit Moebius – Bunker 005 EP
    • Plastikman – Convulse (sic) on Plastikman – Consumed
    • De’Lacy – hideaway from the Single Tracks ? Trance, Dance, Rave, Gabber collection
    • Steve Miller Band – Macho City on (Various Artists) – Disco Not Disco
    • Fennesz, O’Rourke, Rehberg – Floating My Boat on Fennesz, O’Rourke, Rehberg – The Return of Fenno’berg EP

Hmm, this subset seems to contain only “electronic” music, while the Big List has other things, too. Not that it’s bad, of course, but it looks a bit one-sided or whatchamacallit.

Ok, so I’m slow to the boat on this one. I found a new blog today which I’ve added to the links entitled Mathibus. Appears to be rather nice. As already mentioned in the title of this post, I noticed a cool looking meme while looking through the archives […]
